ISO 14001:2026 · Malaysia deadlines

ISO 14001:2026. Environmental proof, live.

AISO Management Sdn Bhd is an ISO 14001:2026 consultant in Malaysia, helping certified companies transition before 30 April 2029.

Every certified company in Malaysia must move to ISO 14001:2026 by 30 April 2029. Use the transition to take your aspects register, permits and monitoring off paper. AISO builds the 2026 system on live workflows, so scheduled waste, effluent and energy records are current every day, not the night before the audit.

New certifications on ISO 14001:2026 from 31 Oct 2027 · all companies by 30 Apr 2029

Paper ISO vs Live ISO

The new clauses ask for evidence across the whole life cycle. Binders cannot keep up with that.

Paper
Typical EMS
  • Aspects register updated once a year
  • Scheduled waste and effluent records in binders
  • Monitoring data in scattered spreadsheets
  • Licence renewals tracked from memory
  • Panic before every surveillance audit
VS
Live
AISO live EMS
  • Aspects reviewed for normal, abnormal and emergency conditions
  • Waste, effluent and energy logged as work happens
  • Licence and permit dates with automatic reminders
  • Contractor and supplier controls tracked live
  • Audit-ready every day

What changed in ISO 14001:2026

The structure stays familiar, but auditors will look for these points.

Clause 4.1

Climate, biodiversity, pollution

Climate change, biodiversity, ecosystem health and pollution are now part of your context and interested parties.

Clauses 4.3 and 8

Life cycle and outsourcing

Life-cycle thinking covers your whole scope, including outsourced processes. Supplier controls get stronger.

Clause 6.1.2

Aspects in all conditions

Aspects and impacts evaluated for normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.

Clause 6.3 · new

Change management

A dedicated requirement to plan and control changes to your environmental management system.

Clause 7.5

Documented information

"Maintain" and "retain" become "available". Records still need to be there when the auditor asks.

Clause 9

Audit and review

Internal audit objectives defined and the audit programme documented. Management review reorganised.

One transition. Two standards if you need it.

ISO 9001:2026 and ISO 14001:2026 share the Harmonised Structure: one gap analysis, one internal audit, one transition audit.

ISO 14001:2026 FAQ

When was ISO 14001:2026 published?

In April 2026. It replaces ISO 14001:2015 and starts a three-year transition.

What is the ISO 14001:2026 deadline in Malaysia?

Under JSM ACB Circular 5/2026, new and initial certifications must be to ISO 14001:2026 from 31 October 2027, and all certified organisations must transition by 30 April 2029.

Is my ISO 14001:2015 certificate still valid?

Yes, until you transition, and at the latest until 30 April 2029.

Does ISO 14001 replace our DOE licences?

No. Statutory approvals and licences stay separate. ISO 14001 helps you manage them and prove compliance, and a live system reminds you before they expire.

Can we transition ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 together?

Yes. ISO 9001:2026 was published on 16 September 2026, and both use the Harmonised Structure, so one combined project saves time and audit days.

How long does the transition take?

For a well-run ISO 14001:2015 system, the gap work is usually a matter of weeks. Send us your next audit date and we plan backwards from it.

Take your EMS off paper.

WhatsApp us your next audit date. We reply with a dated transition plan.
